Hey Y’all,
I have exciting news! I’ve signed a contract with Chelsea Green Publishing. We have agreed that they are going to publish Explorations in Ecology for Children and Their Adults! The book will include many of the activities already posted, but they will be revised and refined, and the book will offer much more information and ideas in a single user-friendly volume.
Current paid subscribers, I’ve saved your email addresses and intend to send each of you a free copy of the book when it comes out. In addition, the current activities will remain on this site accessible to all subscribers.
From here on, my posts here will be about my thoughts as I finish the book. At the moment, I’m musing about titles. Here are two possibilities:
Explorations in Ecology for Children and Their Adults: Transformative Adventures for All of Us
Earth Wisdom: Explorations in Ecology for Children and Their Adults
I’d love to hear your thoughts on these or any other titles you think might work in the comments section of this post.
Be Well,
—Peter
Strongly prefer the first title, personally finding the word ecology inviting as it connotes systems and science and this title centres the child. Paired with ‘adventure’ secondly it feels actionable and vibrant. Number 2 ‘Earth Wisdom’ to me anchors the appeal in more of an esoteric and generic place, situating the book on an (already heaving) shelf ministering the wisdom of nature. The tone of that title feels less urgent/now/fresh and doesn’t excite me. Just my two cents on what’s cued!
Congrats! How about this for the title?
Earth Wisdom: Transformative Adventures for All of Us
That sounds like a book I would like to read!
